Water Restriction lifted
September 06, 2024
Due to improving conditions on the WWSC system, Level 2 water restrictions have been lifted as of 9/6/24, Though no restrictions are now in place, water customers are requested to voluntarily aid in a reduction of water demand. This can be achieved by irrigating landscaped areas 2-3 days per week or less, during the hours of 8:00 pm and midnight and minimizing water usage for non-essential purposes.
If the system experiences further issues, leaks or failures, at any time, restrictions will be put back into place.

WWSC Reduces Restrictions to Level 2
August 30, 2024
Due to the successful repair of the 4" main break, improved well perfomance after maintenance was complete, and successful efforts by our members to limit usage, WWSC is lifting drought restrictions from Level 5 down to Level 2. Please reference the WWSC Drought Contingency Plan found under the "Forms & Documents" section of the website - pages 6,7 & 8 of the plan provide details of what conservation measures must be followed at Level 2.
It is still very important to continue boiling consummable water until test results come back indicating all monitored levels are within proper ranges. Another alert will be sent out when the all clear is received to stop boiling.
Chloramine Notice
August 27, 2024
Due to the emergency connection to North Collin water supply, Weston Water has Changed Residual Disinfectant from Free Chlorine to Chloramines
On 8/27/2024, Weston Water will be changing the disinfectant that we use from chlorine to chloramines. This change is intended to benefit our customers by reducing the levels of disinfection byproducts (DBPs) in the system, while still providing protection from waterborne disease.
However, the change to chloramines can cause problems to persons dependent on dialysis machines. A condition known as hemolytic anemia can occur if the disinfectant is not completely removed from the water that is used for the dialysate. Consequently, the pretreatment scheme used for the dialysis units must include some means, such as a charcoal filter, for removing the chloramine prior to this date. Medical facilities should also determine if additional precautions are required for other medical equipment.
In addition, chloraminated water may be toxic to fish. If you have a fish tank, please make sure that the chemicals or filters that you are using are designed for use in water that has been treated with chloramines. You may also need to change the type of filter that you use for the fish tank.
This method of treatment is how North Collin disinfects their water, which is now the water Weston will be utilizing. Changes will be temporary until our well is repaired and we can discontinue using the emergency connection.
Boil Water Notice for Community Public Water Systems
August 23, 2024
Due to a loss in water pressure, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the Weston water supply co. PWS0430050 public water system to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption (e.g., washing hands/face, brushing teeth, drinking, etc). Children, seniors, and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, and all customers should follow these directions).
To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.
In lieu of boiling, individuals may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source for drinking water or human consumption purposes.
When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the public water system officials will notify customers that the water is safe for drinking water or human consumption purposes.
Once the boil water notice is no longer in effect, the public water system will issue a notice to customers that rescinds the boil water notice in a manner similar to this notice.
Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.
If you have questions concerning this matter, you may contact Weston Water Supply Corporation at 972-382-2445 or by email at Westonwater@gmail.com.
